And now UK courts term Tier-1 cap as unlawful

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-12022613

The temporary cap on Tier-1 applications from outside EU (for highly skilled immigrants) enforced by UK Deptt of Home Affairs in July 2010 has been deemed unlawful by the courts.

This had made, the already chaotic immigration system, more chaotic. As the report suggests, some of the policies are being put into place just for the sake of doing something.

I hope the Tier-1 - PSW visa does not get scrapped.

Another Ranking - 5 Palms ...

http://www.eduniversal-ranking.com/business-school-university-ranking-5palms.html

Cranfield is placed at no 46 in this ranking. This ranking is for 'Business Schools with major international influence'.

The criteria for this ranking is a simple question asked to deans or directors of 1000 top academic instutes over the world - 'Which business school(s) would you recommend to anyone wishing to study in this country?". The rankings also depend on the level of International recognition through accreditations, memberships and other rankings.

Interesting to note is that IIMs show up here. IIMB at 25 and IIMA at 52. IIMB has been India's no 1 in this list since the last three years. (Source : click here)

And now its 'Tier-1 PSW' that might go !

UK Immigration Ministry, as a major drive to keep limits on immigration has now decided to close the Tier-1 PSW as well. Reason for the same is that more students using this criteria are doing lower-than-degree level courses and are not so-highly-skilled as they should be.

Now, its upto the schools to sit down and decide whether its the right decision.

Scrapping the PSW will mean disaster to me, and to the other students from outside EU who want to work in the UK post MBA. I hope, (against any hope), that the PSW gets changed to allow post-graduates to work, which will include us :)

In extreme cases, will have to go back to India, which might not be that bad. I believe whatever happens happens for good. Will keep my fiingers crossed though..

Friday night parties - contd...

Here is an account of what happened tonight/this night ... Some details are missing and fuzzy ...

It was Subhash's birthday party, this weekend, and we just needed a reason to party !!! And so we gathered at our favourite place - Kitchen at 4th floor - 5th block - stringfellow. After a round of drinks, and pole dance by Subhash, we moved to the CSA.

As we reached it was 1.30 already and the CSA did not allow us in, bar closed and time to shut. Damn it !! We needed some more party. Soon started the snow-fight with everyone throwing snow flakes at everyone else, random, excited and all drunk - mostly coming out of CSA, some frustrated at CSA getting closed this early at 2 !

We reached stringfellow where I broke a big snowman, had more snow fights and then moved to Sumant's kitchen for the final round.

We had unending discussions on something or the other with Nikolas - the german - and I remember breaking a glass as well. We also made sausages and ate a lot of them over wine and vodka.

Finally, the party ended at 5, with Sumant doing the cleaning as usual ;)  - Sorry Sumant, owe you a big one for this.
